Housekeeping Week Essentials
Updating Your Celebration Closet with Items That Make Celebrating Easier
Here is a list of things that will make your Housekeeping Week celebrations a little easier.
1. Portable Bluetooth Speaker
A portable speaker will go a long way. Sync your Bluetooth device at the beginning of the week so it's ready to go all week. Set the mode for every event with vibes that match the event's theme. It’s a small thing, but helps create an ambiance.
2. Your Cart
You will most likely need a reliable cart for moving things around, hosting snack carts and bringing fun activities to your team.
Get your cart ready. Check the wheels. Wipe it down. If you have something that needs fixing, put in a request early so your cart is ready to go.
And decorate it! Check out Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby, Home Good and even the dollar section at Target for some good supplies / seasonal decor to match your Housekeeping Week theme.
3. Acrylic Sign Holders
Grab some clear acrylic sign holders in different sizes.Use them for announcements, menus, trivia or information about what's happening throughout the week.
They can go on your cart or food stations or even be part of your center piece setup on your luncheon tables.
Acrylic sign holders are an amazing catch all tool.
4. Balloons
If you like balloons, like I do, I think they add so much to a celebration.
Stock up on latex balloons in a few different colors and sizes. Keep balloon ribbon and scissors with them so everything is in one place.
If you're using helium, have your tank ready.
Also, if you didn't know, there are inflatable balloon garlands that inflate almost like a pool toy. You can use an electric inflator, put one together pretty quickly and reuse it for another celebration.
I also like stickers for balloons.
Clear stickers are a simple way to personalize plain balloons and make them match your theme without paying for custom balloons every time.
5. Food & Treat Equipment
A slushy or frozen treat machine is an amazing thing to have during Housekeeping Week. There are so many different ways you can use it.
An air fryer is another amazing tool.
An electric griddle? Amazing.
And, of course, a waffle iron.
I also recommend having a utensil and napkin organizer. Get one that separates your forks, knives, spoons and napkins.
It seems small until you're setting up food for a crowd and everything already has a place.
6. Small Upgrades
Little things can upgrade what you already have.
Grab some edible cake toppers or decorative food picks. You can put them on donuts or cupcakes.
If you're doing a Western theme, for example, find some little horseshoe picks. Throw them onto a few things and suddenly the food matches the celebration.
I also love doilies.
Grab a pack from Dollar Tree and keep them in your celebration closet. They're great for decorating and can be reused throughout the year for other appreciation moments.
7. Raffle Tickets & Prizes
Keep an extra supply for raffle tickets, small prizes and candy so you're always ready to give something away.
Get a container that matches your theme to hold raffle tickets throughout the week. Like a Beach bucket for a sea/ beach themed week or a bowl shaped like a football for a sports themed week.
Candy bar medallions are fun. Essentially, you're turning a candy bar into a medal by adding some ribbon with a hot glue gun. It gives them that award moment, but the trophy is edible.
If you want to give away actual medals or trophies, try to look for some that serve a dual purpose. A keychain, magnet, or even a pencil holder so people can get a practical use out of them instead of just tossing them. I would probably skip certificates unless someone is receiving an actual award.
When you give them a prize, let them enjoy it.
