Small Ways to Upgrade Your Employee Breakfast with Big Results
Frankly, you don't really need to reinvent the wheel to make your normal employee breakfast sing.
It's not always about the price tag. It's about what they take away from it.
Start with something that you already have planned, for example, breakfast sandwiches from a local vendor. Then add a thoughtful touch to it. Maybe it's a sign that says "we thought about you" in a witty way based on your theme.
Here are a few ideas to upgrade your appreciation breakfast.
1. Upgrade Your Fruit
Take the fruit out of the normal tray you get from the grocery store and put it into individual servings. Put a little piece of mint on top.
Add some warm chocolate sauce that they can drizzle over their fruit. Grab a little crock pot, melt some chocolate down and put it out with a small ladle.
In the grocery store, usually right near the strawberries, they have those little microwavable containers of chocolate sauce. You can grab a couple of those, warm them up and put the chocolate in a crock pot.
Again, I love a little crock pot.
If you're feeling a little enthusiastic, grab a large watermelon. Cut it open, ball the watermelon out and put your fruit salad inside the melon.
Amazing display. It'll get you lots of oohs and ahs.
Or simply put the fruit inside a themed container that matches whatever you're doing for the appreciation event.
2. Make Space on the Griddle
Pancakes are an amazing breakfast buffet addition. You can also add a little something extra to your pancakes. Try banana pancakes or add some chocolate chips.
Again, toppings are a great way to jazz up almost any hot skillet item you already have.
If you already have an electric skillet, maybe switch to crepes. They are a thin french version of pancakes. They are pair well with fresh fruit and whipped cream. Maybe add some Nutella or cinnamon sugar. Now you've got a party. Crepes feel fun. They feel expensive. They feel lavish. They also make can be savory, if you make enough you can repurpose them for a savory afternoon snack.
Crepe Tip: Since crepes are so thin and aren't as filling as pancakes plan to serve them stuffed so you aren't at the griddle making 5 crepes per person.
3. Jazz Up Those Potatoes
Potatoes can upgrade any breakfast buffet. No matter how you're serving them, jazz up those potatoes with toppings. Put out cheese, onions and peppers. You could also have sour cream and salsa. Automatically, you just upgraded your breakfast bar.
Use this recipe with any potato selection. Tater tots, french fries or even potato chips can become a station when you add condiments and/or a toppings section.
4. Start Your Blenders
Smoothies are simple & they're fresh. You can grab frozen fruit in bulk from your local grocery store, BJ's or Sam's Club. Throw it into the blender with some ice and yogurt then taaadaa! It doesn't have to be complicated.
5. Bonus Option: Make Breakfast in Your Sleep
Think about breakfast items that you can make the night before, let sit and have ready to go the next morning. Overnight oats and fruit parfaits are easy options.
Fruit parfaits are another. Grab little individual containers and layer yogurt and frozen fruit inside. Let the fruit thaw overnight. The next morning, everything has had time to come together. Add a small garnish on top in the morning and you're done.
It's a beautiful, easy way to make something ahead of time and have one less thing to worry about the next morning.
The Objective
Whether you're working with a small budget or just looking to change things up, a few thoughtful touches can turn your usual appreciation breakfast into a celebration.
